Attention Deficit Disorder
Attention Deficit Disorder, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), is a condition that is often characterized by difficulty in concentration, short attention spans and other issues or problems.
Sometimes called a phantom condition, ADHD is often a poster child for critics of juvenile overmedication and pediatric misdiagnosis. However, for millions of children and adults, ADHD is a part of their life that is all too real.
ADHD occurs when there is a disconnection between components within the brain. Sometimes the disconnection is physical while, at other times, it is chemical in nature.
Successful treatment of ADHD begins with a clear understanding by parents and children about exactly what ADHD is – and what it is not.
By working with the trained professionals at Palmetto Behavioral Health, parents and patients are able to learn more about ADHD. This allows them to determine whether they or their loved one have ADHD, and to work with professionals to proceed on a course of action to deal with the disease.
Equally important, for many, professional help will confirm that ADHD is not an issue, and help move forward to determining the root cause of problems so they can be dealt with in a positive and proactive manner. Call us – we are here to help.
