Behavioral Health Program for Seniors
The senior adult program at Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health is specifically designed to treat senior adults with mental health and co-occurring disorders. This unit is specially outfitted with equipment that assists senior adults with their activities for daily living (ADLs) and provides a therapeutic environment for behavioral health treatment.
This program offers specialized treatment for senior adults suffering from major depression, delusional disorders, early onset dementia, suicidal or homicidal ideation, major depressive disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related issues and other mental health issues common to older adults.
COMPONENTS OF THE SENIOR ADULT PROGRAM
- Comprehensive medication evaluation by staff psychiatrists and pharmacists
- Therapy to address transitional issues for both the senior and family
- Senior care education for families including guardianship, power of attorney and other community resources
- Nutritionist involvement to meet the unique nutritional needs of seniors
