Adolescent Programs

The staff of Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health recognizes that teenage years are a time of discovery and change. Adolescence also brings its own variety of unique challenges and stressors. While stress, confusion and misbehavior are natural aspects of growing up, they can lead to larger issues if left unchecked. Palmetto Lowcountry offers both inpatient and outpatient treatment programs to help address the unique needs of this age group.

Our adolescent unit is designed to provide teens ages 12 to 17 a structured environment in which they may address their behavioral health issues. The program aims to identify and stabilize immediate psychiatric concerns and help patients develop effective coping skills tools so they return home as soon as possible.

For adolescents ages 12 to 17, our intensive outpatient program (IOP) takes place in the evening from 4 pm to 7 pm for four to six weeks on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The evening IOP offers teens an opportunity to receive many of the same treatments and therapies as our typical IOP with the convenience of after school hours. The program is offered both virtually and in-person.
