Practical Coping Skills for Recovery

Counseling for Addictions and Recovery Education (CARE) helps individuals recognize and prevent relapse by understanding the connection between their thoughts, feelings, triggers and behaviors. The curriculum is The Matrix Model for Relapse Prevention, which is an evidence-based approach that teaches practical coping skills to manage cravings, avoid high-risk situations and replace substance use with healthy coping strategies.

The model emphasizes that relapse is a process, not a single event, and that early recognition of warning signs can prevent a return to use. Through education, cognitive behavioral techniques, family involvement and ongoing support, patients develop the skills needed to build and maintain long-term recovery.

Patients receive random urine drug screens and breathalyzer weekly.
